Drew Baldridge to play Joe’s Bar Thursday 2/12 (includes interview)

Illinois native and one of our favorite emerging country artists, Drew Baldridge, is playing Joe’s Bar for the first time this Thursday, February 12th. Drew’s latest EP, Crossing County Lines Vol. 1, debuted top 15 on iTunes in December and he’s opened for acts like Josh Turner and Dustin Lynch many-a-time.

He’ll be playing immediately after the 8pm Illini vs. Michigan game- so Big 10 fans, you have no excuse not to come check him out! (Basketball + country music = the perfect #ThirstyThursday)

Baldridge, originally from Patoka, IL, now resides in Nashville. Get to know him below.

We’re so pumped you’re coming to Joe’s Bar. Do you & the band like playing in Chicago?
Drew: We love playing Chicago! It has only been a welcoming place to my music and band. Every show that we have played there has been packed! And plus it doesn’t get better than deep dish Giordano’s pizza ha!

It is clear that fans have been loving your new “Crossing County Lines” music. Do you have a favorite song to perform live?
Drew: Yes we have been super blessed that the fans have responded so well to the release of Crossing County Lines Vol. 1! I was not expecting for it to debut top 15 on the iTunes Chart! By far my favorite song to perform is Right Round Bout Now. It’s a great crowd song!

You’re going to be playing at Joe’s right after the Illini game… are you a college basketball fan?
Drew: Growing up I have always been a huge basketball fan. I played it all through high school and was going to go to college to play, but instead moved to Nashville. Being from Illinois there were many nights where me and my dad would sit and watch the Illini play while he coached me through what they were doing! I learned a lot watching them play and they are still my number 1 college basketball team!

Any big goals or plans for this spring? Will you be playing any festivals in the midwest this summer?
Drew: I’m going to be on the road all of this spring touring around the Midwest playing a lot of Festivals.. I’m super excited to come up and play the Windy City Smoke Out on July 11th! Also pumped to be playing the Country Life Music Fest in Peoria on July 17th!

You’ve opened for some pretty killer artists (Josh Turner, Alabama, Montgomery Gentry) in your career thus far. If you could go on tour with any one artist or group, who would it be?
Drew: I would love to go on any tour with the guys that I’ve played with! Of course Josh Turner is like my idol so that would be unbelievable! However, I’d really love to be on a club tour with Cole Swindell or Dustin Lynch. Those guys have been so good to me through this past year!

Do you have any pre-show rituals?
Drew: Our pre-show ritual is to always say a prayer before we take stage… it gives everyone in the band confidence to jump up there and do our best knowing the Lords with us!

What is your favorite part about always being on the road touring?
Drew: My favorite part about being on the road is seeing all the fans screaming and cheering! I love feeling all the energy from the stage!

Follow Drew on Twitter and catch him at Joe’s this Thursday, February 12th!
